Writing as the Next Career
I’ll be teaching a two-session class titled “Writing as the Next Career” at Hugo House on April 21 and 22, 2018, from 1-4 pm each day. Many people come to writing after careers in other fields or lifetimes of non-writing-related experience. This class is designed to help you understand the commitment necessary to become a successful writer, and navigate the very different culture and work ethic of this new pursuit. Class topics include becoming part of the writing community, understanding industry standards, and learning the needs and procedures of the publishing market.
Starting Fresh on the Page
A four-session version of the above class will be held at Tacoma Community College’s Gig Harbor Campus on May 17 – June 7, Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm each evening. This class will include a more in-depth look at what it takes to transition to writing from other careers.
Mentoring and Editing
I have been mentoring writers and editing manuscripts for many years. I truly enjoy working with writers to help them discover their strengths and improve their weaknesses, and build their confidence through a deep understanding of what makes writing successful. If you have questions or would like to discuss a project, please use the Contact Page. I look forward to hearing from you.
